Glennda Johnston

Glennda JohnstonMy Background:
I have proudly accumulated 35 wonderful years in the beauty industry and my experience has ranged from working behind the chair and owning a salon, to vocational instruction and educating for several major manufacturers. My training is vast and continuous and spans from local classes to major European workshops. I have also studied the culture and philosophy of the beauty industry and now share my wealth of knowledge with others.

My Passion:
Sharing with other stylists the excitement that is generated through learning, which improves the quality of our personal life and IS the tool to exceed our professional goals.

My passion with hair is with styling and finishing with a strong emphasis on upstyling.

My Personal Side:
I’m married with two grown children and live in Chardon, Ohio. I spend much of my time volunteering at various schools and organizations, educating about hair and make up. I enjoy porcelain doll making and sewing and I stay healthy and active by skating and walking.

My Greatest Accomplishments:
Raising my two daughters, which have grown into beautiful young women with awesome careers of their own. My goal for them was to instill good morals, character and develop a passion in life. They feel they have accomplished all that so my goal is a success.

What I am most proud of:
Sharing my knowledge and experiences in hairdressing with other stylists. I love it when I have inspired or motivated others to develop to their full potential and think beyond the average cut, color or style and be not just a hairdresser, but a master of hairdressing.

My strongest suit or qualities:
My sensitivity to human individuality whether it be teaching other stylists or consulting with a client. We are all unique individuals that draw upon many different combinations of talent, ideas and personality for that “unique style”.

My Mentors:
Many icons of the industry such as Vidal Sassoon, Trevor Sorbie and Vivienne MacKinder but also all of the hard working stylists that didn’t let a bad day stunt their growth in the industry.

What I want to leave behind (or best be known for):
That the world of hairdressing is at once demanding, exciting and rewarding and as an educator I was at once demanding, exciting and rewarding!
